This deck repair project involved three kinds of flashing installation.
Diato/Combo Metal. We installed 25 linear ft along the deck to wall transition, incorporating the stucco screed. This was to make sure the wall would be prepared for stucco when we were done.
Scupper Drain. Though not technically flashing, this all metal wall drain, allows for water to have outlet when the deck is fully enclosed. It eliminates the need for a deck drain. One 2×3 inch scupper wall drain was installed.
L metal. We installed L metal flashing under the door and around deck perimeter.
This prepared this deck waterproofing Marina Del Rey project for our stylized 5 layer deck coating waterproof membrane.
We installed The Crete Decking System. This is a multi-layer waterproofing membrane designed for use over plywood sub-floors.
-We first staple down 2.5lb galvanized metal diamond lathe. This layer gives both an anchor point from deck to concrete, and also balances strength and flexibility.
-Then troweled down is a cementitious base coat with a polymer additive. This is the core strength layer that prepares for the waterproofing center.
-The deck is next laminated using fiberglass matting & acrylic resin bonder. This not only waterproofs the deck and adds some flex, but is also the step many companies neglect to perform.
-For added strength an extra layer of our polymer modified concrete “sandwiches” the fiberglass layer.
